Founded in 1999 here in Mid-Michigan, Superior Carpentry was built on a passion for construction, hard-work and service. Our ties to Mid-Michigan give use the dedication to serve the Tri-Cities with a personable remodel experience since our inception. At Superior Carpentry, remodeling is more than just construction it's about creating spaces that families can enjoy and feel proud of for years to come. Our Story.
Owner James Scherzer began working construction in 1992, helping his uncle build custom homes in the Harbor Springs and Petoskey areas. At a young age, he discovered the satisfaction of creating something from nothing and seeing a vision come to life through hard work and attention to detail.
Over the years, James continued to develop his skills through hands-on experience and a dedication to his craft. Today over 25 years later Superior Carpentry remains a small, hands-on company by choice. Unlike larger remodeling companies that juggle multiple projects at once, we focus on one project at a time so every customer receives the attention, communication, and quality workmanship they deserve. James is present on every project and works closely with customers throughout the entire process. We understand that allowing contractors in your home requires trust, and we work hard to earn that trust through honesty, respect, cleanliness, and communication. We take pride in creating calm, professional job sites that are hardworking, family-oriented, and easy to communicate with. We believe that homeowners deserve contractors who show up on time, communicate clearly, treat their homes with respect, and genuinely care about the finished result.
